One of our first bags introduced more than 30 years ago, this traditional rucksack remains a testament to the idea that if a thing is worth doing, it’s worth doing right.Rather than waxed canvas, Rugged Twill was chosen for its exceptional abrasion resistance. This industrial-strength fabric comes from Britain’s oldest, most storied mills, and is lightly waxed to keep valuables dry and protected from the elements. The Bridle Leather for the shoulder straps and reinforcing is strong and durable enough for horse tack. It’s been slowly vegetable-tanned over several weeks in natural plant-based solutions that transform top-grade cowhides into sturdy, supple, and lustrous leather that molds to the shape of your body over decades of use. The rustproof heavy-gauge zipper extends down the sides of the bag for easy access to contents, is reinforced with thick Bridle Leather, and protected buy a large storm flap. The two front pockets are gusseted to expand for extra capacity and secure with snapped flaps. Our 2-ply by 3-ply Rugged Twill, an industrial-strength fabric from the iconic British Millerain, forms the back panel and reinforces the base for added structure and durability. The padded shoulder straps are built with Tin Cloth and lined with Moleskin, a sueded cotton which minimizes slipping while improving breathability. The contoured, adjustable straps are secured to the backpack with vegetable-tanned Bridle Leather from Wickett \u0026amp; Craig, the historic Pennsylvania tannery since 1867. Each of our Bridle Leather hides has been slowly steeped in an environmentally-friendly bark-tannin solution, with tallows and waxes added in the final stages for suppleness and luster.
